When we fit — and when we don’t
MPI Media Library is the right choice when:
- your content already lives in Odoo: website, shop, products, newsletters
- you need to know where an asset is used before you replace it
- external partners need controlled access without learning another tool
- data control matters and files should not leave your house
- predictable one-time cost beats a growing monthly subscription
A specialized cloud DAM is better when:
- you run multiple terabytes of video with CDN delivery
- face recognition or similarity search is day-to-day work
- your creative team is deep in Adobe Creative Cloud or Figma and needs plugins
- a certified cloud is contractually required
- your company does not use Odoo
The two are not mutually exclusive. Some customers keep their brand DAM and use MPI Media Library for everything published directly in Odoo.
Was das Modul heute nicht leistet
Wir halten das offen, damit Sie vor dem Kauf entscheiden können statt danach:
Keine Figma- oder Adobe-Anbindung. Bearbeitung außerhalb von Odoo bleibt ein manueller Weg über Download und Upload. Zuschnitt, Größenänderung und Formatkonvertierung nach WebP decken viele Fälle direkt im Modul ab.
Keine automatische Komprimierung beim Upload. Eine maximale Dateigröße lässt sich erzwingen; verkleinert wird beim Download über Presets oder manuell im Editor.
Keine Suchmaschinen-Steuerung pro Datei. Öffentliche Freigabelinks sind aus der Sitemap ausgeschlossen, ein noindex-Schalter pro Datei existiert nicht.
Vorschau für PDF und Office nur als Symbol. Bilder und Videos werden inline angezeigt, Dokumente über den Dateityp erkennbar.
Kein fertiger Migrationsassistent. Bestände aus pixx.io oder anderen Systemen übernehmen wir über die Odoo-Schnittstelle im Rahmen eines Migrationsprojekts.
Keine Auslagerung auf externen Speicher. Dateien liegen im Odoo-Filestore; bei großem Videobestand ist das bei der Dimensionierung zu berücksichtigen. Für Datensatz-Anhänge in Nextcloud/S3/NAS siehe Cloud Storage Sync.
What the module does not do today
We keep this open so you can decide before buying, not after:
No Figma or Adobe connector. Editing outside Odoo stays a manual download/upload path. Crop, resize, and WebP conversion cover many cases inside the module.
No automatic compression on upload. A maximum file size can be enforced; downsizing happens via download presets or manually in the editor.
No per-file search-engine controls. Public share links are excluded from the sitemap; a per-file noindex switch does not exist.
PDF and Office preview as icon only. Images and video show inline; documents are recognizable by type.
No ready-made migration wizard. Stocks from pixx.io or other systems are imported via the Odoo interface as part of a migration project.
No offload to external storage. Files live in the Odoo filestore; large video libraries must be considered when sizing. For record attachments in Nextcloud/S3/NAS see Cloud Storage Sync.

Nein, die beiden ergänzen sich. Dokumente ist auf Belege und Geschäftsprozesse ausgelegt, inklusive OCR und Workflow-Aktionen. MPI Media Library ist auf Marketing-Assets ausgelegt: Veröffentlichung, Freigabe, Nutzungsverfolgung und Website-Integration.
Wo liegen unsere Dateien?
Im Filestore Ihrer Odoo-Instanz — bei Ihnen, bei Odoo.sh oder bei Ihrem Hoster. Es verlässt nichts Ihre Umgebung.
Was passiert mit bestehenden Anhängen?
Beim ersten Öffnen durch einen Administrator übernimmt das Modul vorhandene Odoo-Anhänge in die Bibliothek. Systemdateien und Feldanhänge bleiben außen vor.
Bleiben Links gültig, wenn wir eine Datei ändern?
Beim Zuschneiden und Verkleinern ja — die Datei wird an Ort und Stelle ersetzt, bestehende Einbindungen zeigen sofort die neue Fassung.
Brauchen externe Partner eine Odoo-Lizenz?
Nein. Portalzugänge sind in Odoo kostenfrei.
Was kostet die KI-Verschlagwortung?

Does this replace Odoo Documents?
No — they complement each other. Documents targets business records and process workflows, including OCR and workflow actions. MPI Media Library targets marketing assets: publishing, approval, usage tracking, and website integration.
Where do our files live?
In the filestore of your Odoo instance — on your premises, on Odoo.sh, or at your hoster. Nothing leaves your environment.
What happens to existing attachments?
On first open by an administrator, the module imports existing Odoo attachments into the library. System files and field attachments stay out.
Do links stay valid when we change a file?
For crop and resize, yes — the file is replaced in place, and existing embeds show the new version immediately.
Do external partners need an Odoo license?
No. Portal users are free in Odoo.
What does AI tagging cost?
Nothing extra to us. You store your own API key and bill directly with your AI provider.
